In the current investigation, Cr2O3–50% Al2O3 coating was deposited on ASTM-SA213-T-22 boiler steel and Fe-based superalloy Superfer 800H by D-gun spray process. The high-temperature corrosion performance of the coated as well as bare alloys was evaluated in Na2SO4–60%V2O5 molten salt, an aggressive environment at 900 °C under cyclic conditions. The kinetics of the corrosion were analyzed by the change in weight measurements which were taken after each cycle (i.e., 1-h heating in a tube furnace followed by 20-min cooling in ambient air) for a total period of 50 cycles. The X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy/energy-dispersive X-ray analysis techniques were used for the analysis of corrosion products. During investigations, it was found that both the selected bare alloys have suffered intensive spallation in the form of removal of their oxide scales, which may be attributed to the formation of non-protective Fe2O3-dominated oxide scales, whereas the coated alloys have shown lesser weight gains along with better adhesiveness of the oxide scales with the substrate till the end of the experiment. The oxides of chromium and aluminum were the main phases revealed in the oxide scales of the coated specimens, which are reported to be protective against the hot corrosion.  相似文献

A systematic study of the comparative performances of supported Pt, Pd, Ru and conventional CoMo/Al2O3, NiMo/Al2O3, NiW/Al2O3 catalysts as well as the effects of solvent, H2 pressure and temperature on the hydroprocessing activity of a representative model bio-oil compound (e.g., p-cresol) is presented. With water as solvent, Pt/C catalyst shows the highest activity and selectivity towards hydrocarbons (toluene and methylcyclohexane), followed by Pt/Al2O3, Pd and Ru catalysts. Calculations indicate that the reactions in aqueous phase are hindered by mass-transfer limitations at the investigated conditions. In contrast, with supercritical n-heptane as solvent at identical pressure and temperature, the reactant and H2 are completely miscible and calculations indicate that mass-transfer limitations are eliminated. All the noble metal catalysts (Pt, Pd and Ru) show nearly total conversion but low selectivity to toluene in supercritical n-heptane. Further, conventional CoMo/Al2O3, NiMo/Al2O3 and NiW/Al2O3 catalysts do not show any hydrodeoxygenation activity in water, but in supercritical n-heptane, CoMo/Al2O3 shows the highest activity among the tested conventional catalysts with 97?% selectivity to toluene. Systematic parametric investigations with Pt/C and Pt/Al2O3 catalysts indicate that with water as the solvent, the reaction occurs in a liquid phase with low H2 availability (i.e., low H2 surface coverage) and toluene formation is favored. In supercritical n-heptane with high H2 availability (i.e., high H2 surface coverage), the ring hydrogenation pathway is favored leading to the high selectivity to 4-methylcyclohexanol. In addition to differences in H2 surface coverage, the starkly different selectivities between the two solvents may also be due to the influence of solvent polarity on p-cresol adsorption characteristics.  相似文献

Vanilla planifolia Andrews is a perennial tropical vine and is an orchid grown for its pleasant flavor. There is an increasing trend world over for using natural flavors. Vanilla being an important food flavoring ingredient, the demand for natural vanilla extract is increasing. Hence, the aim of the present study was to prepare vanilla extract from green beans without going through the elaborate and time-consuming conventional curing process. Vanilla beans after size reduction were mixed in a suitable proportion with tea leaf enzyme extract (TLEE) and incubated to facilitate action of enzymes on vanilla flavor precursors. The beans mix was squeezed, and the filtrate was treated with ethanol to extract the vanilla flavor. TLEE-treated extracts had higher vanillin content (4.2%) compared to Viscozyme extract (2.4%). Also, it had higher intensity of vanilla flavor, sweet, and floral notes. Further, electronic nose analysis confirmed the discrimination between extracts. It was concluded that the use of TLEE is very much useful to obtain higher yield of vanilla extract and superior quality vanilla flavor, which avoids the traditional laborious and time-consuming curing process.  相似文献

We apply in situ surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) to probe the reversible photoswitching of azobenzene-functionalized molecules inserted in self-assembled monolayers that serve as controlled nanoscale environments. Nanohole arrays are fabricated in Au thin films to enable SERS measurements associated with excitation of surface plasmons. A series of SERS spectra are recorded for azobenzene upon cycling exposure to UV (365 nm) and blue (450 nm) light. Experimental spectra match theoretical calculations. On the basis of both the simulations and the experimental data analysis, SERS provides quantitative information on the reversible photoswitching of azobenzene in controlled nanoscale environments.  相似文献

Dried fruits and nuts make up a significant portion of the commodities traded globally, and the presence of yeasts and molds on dried fruits and nuts can be a public health risk because of the potential for exposure to toxigenic fungi. Since current postharvest treatment technologies are rather limited for dried fruits and nuts, electron beam (E-beam) radiation experiments were performed to determine the doses required to reduce the yeast and mold bioburden of raisins, walnuts, and dates. The indigenous yeast and mold bioburden on a select number of commodities sold at retail ranged from 10(2) to 10(3) CFU/g. E-beam inactivation kinetics based on the linear model suggest that the decimal reduction dose required to eliminate 90% of the microbial population (D10-value) of these indigenous fungal populations ranges from 1.09 to 1.59 kGy. Some samples, however, exhibited inactivation kinetics that were better modeled by a quadratic model. The results indicate that different commodities can contain molds and yeasts of varying resistance to ionizing radiation. It is thus essential for the dried fruit and nut industry to determine empirically the minimum E-beam dose that is capable of reducing or eliminating the bioburden of yeasts and molds in their specific commodities.  相似文献

Exact solution of two‐dimensional (2D) Poisson's equation for fully depleted double‐gate silicon‐on‐insulator metal‐oxide‐semiconductor field‐effect transistor is derived using three‐zone Green's function solution technique. Framework consists of consideration of source–drain junction curvature. 2D potential profile obtained forms the basis for estimation of threshold voltage. Temperature dependence of front surface potential distribution, back surface potential distribution and front‐gate threshold voltage are modeled using temperature sensitive parameters. Applying newly developed model, surface potential and threshold voltage sensitivities to gate oxide thickness have been comprehensively investigated. Device simulation is performed using ATLAS 2D (SILVACO, 4701 Patrick Henry Drive, Bldg. Santa Clara, CA 95054 USA) device simulator, and the results obtained are compared with the proposed 2D model. The chemical characteristics of Pongamia pinnata seeds, focussing on proximate composition and the fatty acid profile of its oil, are presented. The proximate composition of P. pinnata seeds was: 3.8% ash, 9.7% sugar, 7.07% protein, 24% oil, 10.7% free amino acids, and 0.24% free fatty acids. The oil was extracted from seeds by use of different solvents and the highest yield (29%) was obtained by use of n-hexane. Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids accounted for 63.3 and 22.9%, respectively, of the seed oil. Oleic acid was the major fatty acid but a substantial amount of erucic acid was also detected; this was not reported in previous studies. The level of erucic acid and the presence of toxic flavonoids, for example karanjin, pongapin, and pongaglabrin, render the oil inedible according to WHO recommendations. However, low levels of saturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids with desirable cetane number and iodine value suggest potential for application as a biodiesel fuel.  相似文献

Five glasses in the quaternary system 5 ZnO-(50 − x) As2O3-45 Sb2O3: x WO3 with the values of x ranging from 0 to 20 mol% (in steps of 5 mol%) are prepared. The samples are characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) techniques. The DTA studies have indicated that the glass forming ability decreases with the increasing content of WO3. A number of studies, like, spectroscopic (optical absorption, IR, Raman, ESR spectra) and dielectric studies (dielectric constant ?, loss tan δ, a.c. conductivity σa.c.) over a wide range of frequency and temperature and dielectric break down strength at room temperature, have been carried out and are analysed in the light of different oxidation states and environment of tungsten ions in these glasses. The equilibrium moisture contents of litchi (Litchi Chinensis Sonn.) were experimentally determined using the dynamic method at temperatures of 30, 40, and 50°C over a range of relative humidity values of 12 to 95%. Five models were tested to fit the experimental isotherm data of litchi. The GAB model fitted the best to experimental isotherm data. The agreement between experimental and predicted values of this model is excellent (RMSE 1.8 to 3.4%). The isosteric heats of sorption water were also determined from the equilibrium data using the Clausius-Clapeyron equation and it was found to be a function of equilibrium moisture content.  相似文献
